Brettells
is one of England's oldest woodturning companies and
one of the largest manufacturer of trade stairparts
in the London area.
As a family run business we have been supplying the
trade with turned wood products since 1830. We supply
companies nation wide and distribute from our factory
in Forest Gate in the heart of East London. Orders over
£150 are delivered free within the M25 for trade
customers.

Brettells
have been producing special square turned posts
and spindles in Londons East End for over a hundred
years. These turnings are usually found
in grand houses in the major cities of London,
Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Newcastle.

At
Brettells
we offer a wide variety of spindle designs for
the stair trade. These are complimented
by similar designs of newel posts and caps. Newels
posts are turned solid or in two parts for easy
assembly. They all come in a range of sizes and
timbers. All softwood used in stairparts production
is certified PEFC.

At Brettells
all items are produced from timber sourced from
reputable timber merchants that belong to the
TTF (Timber Trades Federation) who in turn source
their timber from sawmills who subscribe to various
forest management schemes around the world such
as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Program
for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes
(PEFC). With good forest management there will
be a plentiful supply of quality timber for future
generations.
There are in excess of four thousand species of
timber in the world and over four hundred commercial
timbers in use. Redwood, Oak and Sapele are our
three principal timbers for stairparts production.
